Part 3: Council Minutes of the Royal College of Physicians, 1836-1978
The focus of Part 3 is primarily on the period 1960-1978 when the Council Minutes became the most important record of the College and contain much more detail than the Annals.
- All the background papers discussed at Council Meetings are included.
- These records are invaluable for the study of medicine and the National Health Service in the modern period – the issues discussed do not just relate to Britain, but to the whole medical world.
- Issues discussed include anaesthetics, diabetes, neurology, tropical diseases, tuberculosis, care of the elderly, smoking, thoracic medicine, coronary arteriography, fluoridation of water supplies, training and appointments of consultants.
The bound volumes of Council Minutes of the College for 1836-1960 are also included.
