The compiler notes the reception accorded to the later plays. Of that accorded to the earlier ones it is not always possible to say if he was speaking from tradition or a revival in his own day. Under " W- Shakespear " he writes, " Othello Moor of Venice this tragedy is esteemed one of his best. 2 Pericles much esteemed during the Authors life. 3 The Puritan, thought very diverting," etc.
